Dreams of Siduri

A little lore about our latest mead

If you were at our birthday bash this April, you'll recognize our newest drink on the menu. Dreams of Siduri was a favorite for many; the popular black carrot/black currant mead with a dark walnut hue (not walnut flavor) and a delightful backstory. Here's a little more about how we developed this mead and its name.

The ingredients in Dreams of Siduri are inspired by an attempt to incorporate mead flavors from around the globe. Carrot and currant is a combination prominently found in the Fertile Crescent, and we had been wanting to experiment with carrot for a while. It also seemed a good idea to name our mead after a figure from that area.

Siduri is an ancient Babylonian goddess. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, she interacted with the title character. Although the accounts vary, in one of the translations she warned Gilgamesh about the dangers of pursuing immortality. Which of course, we all know can lead to trouble... fortunately this drink is a simple mead. No magic potions or extended promises of life about it.

The sweetness of this brew is part of its charm. The carrots, dates, and currents compliment the honey. And, of course, who can resist the lore?

Listen to our very own cryptid bartender speak about this mead.
